Siloé Comuna 20 Tour: Art, History and La Estrella Viewpoint
On this community tourism tour of Siloé we'll walk up to La Estrella viewpoint, one of the highest points of Cali's Comuna 20. It's a route that invites you to listen, look and feel the living history of a territory that, beyond the stigma of violence, is now flourishing in art, color and hope.
Together with local guides and community leaders, we'll learn the history of Siloé, a neighborhood born more than a hundred years ago. If you're wondering what to do in Siloé, Cali, this is an experience to see the city from another angle, connect with its people and feel the power of art as a tool for social transformation.
Why does the tour start at 4:00 p.m.? Because the whole route is built around one specific moment: the lighting of the Siloé Star (La Estrella) at 5:45 p.m. Leaving at that time gives you time to ride the MÍO Cable up in daylight, walk the viewpoints and street-art streets at the best moment to photograph the city, and reach La Estrella viewpoint just as the neighborhood gets ready to light it. By design, it's an end-of-day plan: it pairs well with a morning or midday tour downtown and doesn't make you give up the rest of your day.
How do you get there? The meeting point is the MÍO Cañaveralejo station, across from the Mall Plaza shopping center, and from there the cable-car ride up and down is included: you don't have to figure out on your own how to get up or down the hillside. Wear comfortable, closed shoes, because once up top the route is on foot and some streets are steep.
What's different from going on your own? The guides live in Siloé. They don't take you to look at the neighborhood from the outside: they tell it from the inside, with the access and trust only someone who lives there has. Groups are 1 to 15 people, with medical insurance included. Message us on WhatsApp to book your spot for the day you're traveling.
