This tour takes you through the two chapters that explain why Cali is the world capital of salsa: first you'll walk through the historic center, where the city's salsa identity was born, and then you'll head to Barrio Obrero — the neighborhood where it all began — to take salsa lessons and learn first-hand about the origin of the genre from the people who lived it from the inside.

Along the way you'll hear the stories of the pioneers who built this tradition, step into the museums and the best salsotecas of Barrio Obrero that preserve its evolution, learn the basic steps of Cali-style salsa and play the traditional instruments that gave rhythm to an entire city.

Do you need to know how to dance? No. The class is designed for absolute beginners: the basic steps of Cali style are taught from scratch, and you don't need to come with a partner, because practice is done as a group with the teacher. If you already dance, even better — the level adapts to whoever shows up.

What to bring? Closed, comfortable shoes you can spin in without your foot sticking to the floor. Light, breathable clothing, water, sunscreen and a cap: the tour combines walking downtown with dancing, and Cali is warm all year round.

How is the day organized? The meeting point is Jairo Varela Square, right downtown and easy to reach by taxi or ride-hailing app. It's 4 hours in groups of 1 to 15 people, with a museum, first-hand stories, a dance class, instrument practice, a typical snack and medical insurance included.
